The Éco-Vallée will provide new housing opportunities for the Alpes Maritimes department which is in need of a wider offer, in particular regarding social housing. There is a deficit in this matter despite the fact that the five townships within the Eco-Vallée’s perimeter (Nice, Carros, Gattières, La Gaude and Saint Laurent du Var) are all subject to the law on social housing (article 55, loi SRU). The effort to provide new dwellings within the Eco-Vallée is fully in line with the Nice Côte d’Azur local housing plan which is determined to find answers for the full range of housing issues in its territory.

The first operations will result in approximately 4400 new housings by 2026, for sale or rent, in the private or State assisted sectors. If the Grand Arénas represents a constrained area which cannot include a large percentage of dwellings, the Nice Méridia site, on the other hand, will dedicate 50 % of the constructible surface to housing. And within the first four operations, housing programs will be scheduled on both banks of the river in La Baronne-Lingostière (townships of Saint-Laurent du Var, La Gaude and Nice) as well as in the project of the éco district of Saint Martin du Var.

These initial steps, launched as part of the priority projects, are due to be reinforced by the initiatives of public organisms and private promoters. The full scope of the Éco-Vallée’s housing strategy is linked to the plurality of the actors involved and the diversity of programs proposed.
